The Advent Message – Unnerving, Uncomfortable and Unsettling
1) What attribute of God gives you a great amount of comfort? Why? Example of attribute would be God’s Holiness, faithfulness, Justice, etc.
2) READ Acts 7:22-25 – How could Moses have come to the conclusion that God was using him to be the deliverer of the sons of Israel? What kind of resources did he have available at this juncture in his life?
3) READ Acts 7:26-35 – What resources did Moses have available at this juncture in his life to be the deliverer of Israel?
4) READ 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 – Why does the Lord choose to call us to a task when we seemingly have no resources at our disposal?
5) READ Luke 1:26-38 – By yielding to God’s plan for her life what was Mary risking in terms of her reputation in society? What would have been Mary’s strength and comfort in following God’s plan for her life?
6) In considering our calling before the Lord what is it that we should not be surprised about concerning God’s timing and His ways?
7) READ Luke 17:3-6 – What is unsettling or uncomfortable in this passage that would cause us along with the disciples to ask for an increase of faith?
8) Is there any area of your life where it has been difficult to yield to something you know the Lord is calling you into?
9) Spend some time bringing that specific issue to the Lord and by faith willingly submit to that specific call in your life from the Lord Jesus Christ.
10) Close the time in prayer praising and thanking the Lord for the call on your life to follow Him and the wonderful journey of faith.
