CAPCARE Ministry of compassion

CAPCare is our ministry to HIV/AIDS infected and affected persons.  It currently facilitates 22 families (72 members including 40 children) and was founded in December 2003.  Our priority is to provide spiritual guidance to CAPCare members, enabling them spend their present & eternity with Jesus.  Praise God! Some members have accepted Jesus as their Saviour, received counseling, spiritual guidance and were baptized.  We have a Support Group Meeting once a month when CAPCare members and CAP members have a chance to interact.  This is a time of singing, sharing the word, prayer as well as sharing/discussing issues.

Through the years we have had the joy of seeing many come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour--some of whom have gone on to their heavenly abode.   This year three of our CAPCare family members have gone to be with the Lord in heaven.  We shall miss them but know that they are safe in the arms of Jesus experiencing joy (free from sickness and pain) as only He can give.

Uttam Dutt went on his heavenly abode in February 2009.  Most of our CAP members have heard him witness in Church.  Uttam used to say that life before accepting Christ was like tea without sugar and just as adding sugar to tea makes the tea sweet so was his life after he got to know Jesus and accepted Christ as his Saviour.  Uttam’s wife Heena, their children and mother are part of our CAPCare family.

Vaishaka lived for 11 years.  Her parents expired in 2003 when she (HIV+) and her twin brother (negative) were 4 years old.  Her brother lives with his uncle.   As requested by Vaishaka’s father, Gajanand she was admitted at Mukta Jeevan a hospice at Sangamon  - a beautiful place run by dedicated sisters.  Flavia would meet Vaishaka on a regular basis and though she could not join us for our get-togethers, Flavia would go over with her Christmas gift.  Our Sunday School children had also visited her. The last time we met Vaishaka was in February 2009.  She had not been keeping well but looked happy to meet us and receive her gifts.  Vaishaka went to be with the Lord this March.

Shabhir also 11years went home to be with the Lord this May.  He was a bright, smiling child who stood first in class.  This photograph was clicked the last time we visited him in May.  He was at home in bed but looked forward to going back to school.  He liked music and was happy to receive the DVD containing children’s gospel songs.  He is survived by his mother and two sisters who are part of the CAPCare family.

Our CAPCare members are our neighbours/family.

What can you do to help?

  • Pray for them

  • Financial Support

1 John 3:18 motivates us to go the extra mile:  “DEAR CHILDREN LET US NOT LOVE WITH WORDS OR TONGUE BUT WITH ACTIONS AND IN TRUTH.”

Praise God, we have an opportunity to serve Him.   Together we can make this world a better place – Be a Transformer – A messenger of God’s Hope & Freedom.
