Study guide – The Gospel, a gift to the world and an obligation to the Christian
January 12, 2010
1) Share a recent testimony where you got an opportunity to speak of God’s goodness & faithfulness to someone. How did you receive that opportunity?
2) Read Romans 1:1 Paul speaks about his identity clearly in vs. 1. If we were to address our position in Christ, what would those ‘Tags’ be? (look for honest statements, rather than perfect ones)
Share & discuss what Paul speaks of himself,
· Slave of Christ (Humility)
· Apostle of Jesus Christ (Authority)
· Set apart for the gospel (Good news)
3) Discuss our belief system based on vs. 1-6. How does it motivate & encourage us? Share how our belief must influence our day to day life.
· Gospel is from God
· Gospel is attested by the prophets
· The substance of the gospel is Jesus Christ.
· Gospel is for every one
· Obedience to the Gospel through faith.
· Objective of the Gospel is Gods glory.
4) In our Christian walk what does the world have to say about us? How do people around relate with you?
5) What do the people around you have to say about your faith? What may be the reasons for their viewpoints?
6) How do we impart or minister to each other as believers in Christ? How do we encourage each other in our Faith?
7) Vs. 14. What is the motivating factor to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
8) Vs 15. What fleshly concerns get in the way of us being eager to share the gospel with others?
9) READ Galatians Ch 2:16, 3:26; Ephesians 2:8-9- How is it that we can be so easily tempted to revert back to a works oriented philosophy of pleasing God rather than by grace through faith?
10) Ask the Lord for a renewed walk of obedience through faith.
