1. How does your Sunday / Rest day look like? Share.
2. At times when you have allowed backlogs from workplace, house chores, or any other duty/pressures to invade into your Sabbath day. How did it influence your ‘Rest’? Share your views.
· Sunday just Zipped by.
· The peace that we hoped to gain by trying to ‘work’ things out on a rest day is often lost when we loose our own rest.
· Usually even though we plan to work on Sundays, we hardly succeed. (We are often left irritated and dissatisfied.)
· Sometimes even when we are physically inactive, we may be laboring.
· We hardly feel rejuvenated.
3. Read Deuteronomy 5:12-15 how do we receive this commandment over all the rest given to us? What is the tendency as we look at it? Why?
4. Read Genesis 2:2 Even as we read that by the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing & rested from all his work. How easy or difficult is it for us to stay away from all of our work & rest on the Sabbath day? Why?
5. In Genesis 2:3 what attribute of God’s character do we see as He rested on the seventh day? What Key do we see in this verse? Share the relevance it must have on our rest day that God have given us. ( He blessed the Sabbath day, He made it Holy)
6. Read Exodus 16:1-4, 27-30 - Why are we tempted to labor in things which the Lord has already provided for us? What were the deep issues the Israelites had in their walk with the Lord? What could be the reason for their disobedience? (Dig out the reasons behind the Israelites who wanted to collect more manna than what they really needed on the week days, & the ones who tried to collect on the Sabbath day?)
7. Read Mathew 12:1-13. What did the Pharisee fail to understand even as they were religious about keeping the Sabbath as a duty? Is it possible for us to be legalistic yet loosing the purpose that God has for us? Please Explain.
8. In Genesis 2:2 we read that the Lord made the Sabbath Holy. What is our understanding on the holiness the Lord is speaking about? How can we commune with Him even as we are resting? -Psalms 46:10
9. God in his Love has provided us rest not only to rejuvenate us physically but also spiritually, The Lord expects us to obey Him even as we trust Him over the promises which he has given us. Spend some time thanking the Lord by providing us a Sabbath and asking Him to lead us in keeping the Sabbath Day holy.
