Study guide for the week
Recount the time when we were born again, & experienced victory over certain pattern of sin in our life. Even as we continue to walk with the Lord, do we wrestle in those areas time to time? How can it affect us? (Take time & let the group write their views on a piece of paper for their personal introspection & meditation)
The pattern slowly gets woven with our life
It effects our spiritual growth
We become lukewarm & moderate Christians.
We can suffer condemnation.
We can easily give up.
Create tension, confusion and ambivalence.
Read Luke 24:1-12. Even when Jesus had raised Lazarus & daughter of Jairus from death, spoken about his own crucifiction & resurrection, why did the women come to still look for Him in the tomb? Discuss. Do we at times place practical facts overGods wordfor us in our life?
Read Romans Ch 6:1-14. Paul mentions that we too have been crucified with Jesus to our old self, and resurrected with Christ to a new life. Therefore we are dead to sin but alive to God. What new understanding can we gain from this passage? Explore & discuss how the resurrections of Christ can a shift in nature of sin in our life.
Read Luke 5:36, 39 Jesus essentially speaks about two natures or way of life. discuss the contrast are they with each other (also read Corinthians 5 :17)
Discuss what the soul is comprised of? Is Jesus the Lord over our mind, our emotions & intellect? Which of these areas do we struggle the most? Why?
Read Galatians 5:16,17 even as we have seen that we have been crucified with Christ in our flesh, and resurrected in a new life led by spirit, what key do we see that can bring victory in our walk with the Lord?
Read Matthew 5-13-16 can we truly call our self as ‘salt & light of the world? What prevents us from being what Jesus has called us for?
Read Philipians1:6 Even as we have believed in the risen savior, we are no longer slaves to sin because we are embedded in Christ. We have been baptized by the great work of cross, raised with him from sin. Therefore even though we may struggle we must not loose hope, or give up because of the new nature that the resurrection has given us. Therefore old therefore has gone & the new has come.
Share & Pray for one another with encouragement, ask the holy sprit to convict & reveal us of the areas where we radically need to bring change in our lives. Specially, pray for the resurrection power of Christ to bring fresh truths against the lies of the evil one .
