Study Guide for June 13, 2010 1) Share with the group what life was like the first couple of months after surrendering your life to Jesus Christ? 2) Has there ever been a time in your life where you weren’t sure whether you belonged to Jesus Christ? What was happening in your life during that time? 3) READ John 1:12 and Romans 8:15 – What are the incredible truths we find in these passages concerning salvation in Christ Jesus? What makes us doubt these truths and buy into a lie? 4)READ Romans 12:2 and 1 John 2:15-17 – What do we discover concerning the world we live in and how we are called to walk in it? NOTE: The “world” in these passages is being looked upon as sinful humanity. 5)Looking at 1 John 2:16 and specifically at a) the lust of the flesh, b) the lust of the eyes and c) the boastful pride of life what things within the world or within the heart of man could cause us to fall to each? How would you describe “the boastful pride of life” and it being contrary to the will of God? 6) Looking back at Romans 12:2 what becomes the key to being transformed? Answer: The Renewing of our mind 7) Looking at Titus 3:5, who actually does the renewing? 8) Looking at 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – What is one of the key ways we allow the Holy Spirit to renew and change us from the inside out? 9) What would you say speaks more into your life, the word of God or the philosophies of the world? 10) Would you allow the Lord to renew your mind through His word by committing to spend time in His word daily and asking the Holy Spirit for the power and strength to walk in obedience to what He is teaching you. 11) What is the most challenging aspect of this study which you need to bring before the Lord? 12) End the time by giving up to the Lord anything which has been getting in the way of you being renewed in your mind and praise God for His wonderful Grace which is through faith and now works.
