Well, well, another Thanksgiving season rounds the corner, reminding us that our God is a good God, a faithful God and a loving God! For me, it’s like being enveloped in His love; the very fabric of my life undergirded by the woof and warp of His omnipresence. So precious! So comforting! I hope it’s the same for you.
And, this year has sped by, hasn’t it? And now we’re in November, racing towards Christmas, and that’s another glorious occasion to celebrate. But, before we get there, we need to pause, put the skids on and acknowledge, yes with intentionality, that we have much to be grateful for—grateful for jobs, for health, for children, for friends, for church, and for loved ones; thankful that even though we might have walked through the “valley of dark shadows” where life has been tough and grief a companion, His grace has been sufficient, and His Word so true that: “I'm absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us (Romans 8:38-39 MSG). So let us come together during this season of Thanksgiving with grateful hearts thanking our Lord for His goodness in our lives. From our service of thanksgiving to fellowship times filled with fun and laughter; from conversations that we will have and offerings that we might give; from prayers that will be offered to provisions and gifts that we might bring, may our Lord Jesus’ Name be raised. And even beyond that, I pray, that He would be pleased—that He would not wonder, as He did with the ten lepers, why only one returned to give Him thanks! So Beloved, during this season of Thanksgiving, ask God to remind you of the many times He has proven Himself to be your Provider, Protector, Sustainer, Father and Friend, and may our thankful, grateful hearts be the golden thread that weaves its way through the tapestry of our Thanksgiving Day. Every Blessing, Rev. Dr. Cecil Clements
