Greatest in the Kingdom? – Study Guide 1) What ambition did your parents have for you while growing up? 2) Today, what is your greatest ambition in life? 3) READ Matthew 19:28-29, 20:20-21 – What would be some reasons James and John’s mother would make this request of Jesus? Why would she desire this for her sons? 4) How are we similar to James, John and their mom in our everyday life? 5) READ Matthew 20:25 – Discuss how you are being tempted to live the Gentile way in everyday life, whether it be at home or at work. a) How can a husband lord over his wife in a marriage and vice versa? b) How can a manager in his work environment lord over other employees? 6) Rick Warren, “Being Well-known doesn’t mean we are significant” – What does this statement by Rick Warren mean from a Kingdom perspective? 7) READ Acts 9:10-17 – What characteristics of a servant of God and of man do you find in Ananias? 8) READ Acts 4:32-37 – How does this passage reveal a servants heart to us? In what way does this passage challenge us today as we desire to live the Kingdom way as opposed to the Gentile Way? 9) READ Matthew 20:26-28 – In order to be named first or greatest in the Kingdom how would you like to be prayed for? Divide in groups of two and pray for one another in this regard, trusting that the Servant King is there to work in and through you. 10) Close the time in prayer praising God for the call on our life to be servants to one another.
