How Marvelous! How Wonderful!

ImageThe Christmas season is here! Celebrate!  The carols are back; the prophesies of Micah, Isaiah and Jeremiah once again remind us that “unto us a child is born and unto us a Son is given....” John the Baptist will make his annual appearance :) along with Zacharias and Elizabeth, and Mary will be remembered for more than just “pondering these things in her heart,” and the wise-men will begin their trek, and the shepherds will be tending their sheep and earthly choirs will challenge heavenly ones with their “Glorias” and “unto us’” and little children will sing reminding us that “Once in Royal David’s city...love came down at Christmas.” How exciting, how thrilling, how stirring to think that a little over two thousand years ago the love of God intersected with human history and paved the way for God and humanity to co-exist. So in the midst of caroling and tinsel and coloured lights, and cakes and treats and sugar-free sweets, let’s keep Jesus central to the season, for He is the reason for it! In the words of Johan Rist: “This Child, now weak in infancy, our confidence and joy shall be; the power of Satan breaking, our peace eternal making.” And our refrain must be: “How marvelous!  how wonderful!  And my song shall ever be:  How marvelous! how wonderful!  Is my Savior's love for me!”
Come on, it’s Advent! Let’s celebrate!!
